This time of the year, if you're like me who enjoy cold weather in London or New York where I can cozy up in front of the fireplace with a fuzzy blanket with my dog while drinking a cup of tea, or for better, a glass of Bordeaux, Miami may not be the place you'd think of going.
. . .
It was mesmerizing to see my favorite photography of all time, an eerie image of a skull - a tattoo on the back of a shirtless boy by Ari Marcopoulos. It is also a cover of his 2008 book, The Chance Is Higher.
The first time I came across his work was one weekend in 2008 when I was strolling through SoHo, New York City. I found a little stairs that led me to a tiny book store called Dashwood Book on Bond St. That's when I first saw the poster, a floating skull tattoo with a fine pattern of cross-hatch photography by Ari Marcopoulos. - I immediately fell in love with it. I could not afford his book back then, so I printed out his photography from the web, and framed it with $4.00 black wooden frame I purchased at the thrift shop down from my old apartment. - 10 years later, I still have the same exact framed replica hanging on the wall in my flat, and I can still say that it's my favorite photography of all time.
